A Complete Rundown Of Hair Extensions Care So They Last Forever

Well, nothing lasts forever, but certainly, with proper care, they can last almost two years. And that is not less when we talk about hair extensions. So, this article is a short and quick rundown of all the techniques you need to follow for maintaining your hair extensions splendidly.

Let's start!
Hair Extension Care Tips To Extend Their Life

#1: Products you must not use!
Watch out for the presence of Sulphates and Alcohol in your shampoo and conditioners. These ingredients suck the hair's moisture and natural oils, leaving them dry and prone to tangling. Flip over the product and look for ingredients like SLS, Sodium Laureth Sulphate, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate, Ethanol, Alcohol Denat, SD Alcohol 40, Propyl, Propanol, Isopropyl, etc. Lastly, avoid products like hair gel, hair spray, hair wax, etc. These products will clog your
extensions, ultimately leading to more stiff hairs with no bounce.

#2: Need To Store It Properly
Storage is another vital point that will decide the longevity of your hair extensions. This procedure is quick but goes a long way in caring for your extensions. Let's see what it is. First of all, if it is a clip-in hair extension, make sure that all the clips are closed . Then carefully brush your set and lay it in a cool and dry place . Also, make sure that your hair extensions are dry to avoid mold and bacteria growth in them before storage. We highly recommended our Goddess Wig/ Hair Extensions Hanger and Protective Dust Bag, the ultimate solution to keep your extensions securely. It comes with a wooden hanger and a beautiful Gold or Rose Gold hook. The hanger can hold multiple extensions while retaining each of their patterns. No more tangling and the hanger also keeps them dust-free. It is effortless to carry your extensions in our bag/ hanger while traveling. And even when you are not traveling, it is the best way to store your extensions in your home. Just lay them in and hang the bag in your closet. As simple as that!

#3: The Brushing Technique
Brushing is another essential element of your Virgin Hair Goddess hair extensions. Hairs that are brushed properly last longer. So how do you brush them?
First, stack all the wefts on top of each other. Now start brushing from the end all the way towards the root. Also, keep in mind to brush your extensions only when they are 90% dry. Why? Because hairs are prone to breakage when wet.
Lastly, use a wide-tooth comb or a soft-bristle brush for brushing. This point will ensure that there is minimum shedding and breakage. We also recommend that you use our Luxury Goddess Brush with Bread-less Bristles as it is very gentle on the scalp and minimizes breakage.

#4: How Do I Wash Them?
Unlike our natural hair, your raw hair extensions do not receive oils and nutrients from the scalp. This is good and bad both at the same time. Good because this means that they don't get dirty as often and need to be washed only once or twice a month. However, we leave it to your best judgment, but more washing will shorten their lifespan. Why? Because of the bad part! They do not get nutrients from your body. Therefore, we suggest that you use sulfate-free and alcohol-free shampoo and conditioner on your lovely extensions. Sometimes, you can even only co-wash your extensions with conditioner and skip the shampoo altogether. Lastly, remember not to rub them vigorously, as this will lead to some tangling. Handle the hairs gently. Once you are done, squeeze the excess water from them. And with this, it is time to move to the next step.

#5: How Do I Dry My Hair Extensions?
There are two ways to dry hair, air-dry and blow-dry. We highly recommend that you air-dry your hairs. Just lay them on a microfiber towel. These towels suck the excess moisture faster and also do not rough-up the hair. You can also pat on the wefts with the towel. And here is a trick to control frizz. Just apply little hair oil when they are wet. But if you need to wear your hair just after washing them and need to blow-dry. Then apply a heat-protectant spray on the extensions first, and then blow dry on the Cool setting. Also, dry them in a downward fashion, i.e., from the roots to the ends. This technique will result in less tangling. Lastly, do not brush them till they are 90% dry. However, you can use your fingers to detangle knots.

#6: Can I Color/Dye My Hair Extensions?
Virgin Hair Goddess provides 100% Raw hair. We suggest to always have a professional hair colorist color your raw hair to ensure that the desired color goes as intended. If you are trying to dye it to a lighter color, this will take multiple treatments and may leave your investment damaged or even useless—something you would surely not want. Thus, if you still want to dye them to a lighter color, try it with a single weft and that too within the hands of a professional.

So, Finally, How Long Can My Hair Extensions Last?
Virgin Hair Goddess provides 100% Raw Hair from a single donor. The hairs are of superior quality and the best on the market, and if proper care is taken, they can last you up to two years or more! A good return on investment, isn't it?What are you waiting for? Explore our variety of hair extensions and grab your perfect one!
